Week Nine IDP Notes
November 7th, 2009 | by Mark Hooper |If you are in an DT -required league, take a shot with Anthony Hargrove of the Saints. With Kenderick Clancy gone for the year, and Sedric Ellis out for at least two more weeks, he’s going to be busy. And with teams playing from behind, and Hargrove really being a pass-rushing specialist, he will have some opportunity. He has three sacks in two weeks in limited playing time.
The Saints much-improved defense has taken a little bit of a hit lately, with the team allowing 5 rushing TDs and almost 300 rushing yards the last two games. Those two games were not-coincidentially the same two weeks that SLB Scott Fujtia has been MIA. He’ll be gone again this week, so the Panthers should have a big day on the ground.
In ‘09, the Ravens have allowed the most average tackles to SS’s of any other team in the NFL. Upgrade Chidenum Nduke and Roy Williams.
Ther Patriots allow more tackles to LBs than any other team in the NFL, although the Dolphins have averaged the least. With Channing Crowder out, Reggie Torbor could be a exceptional one-week play.
The Redskin/Falcons game should be a game to watch if you like to follow MLBs. The teams are 1-2 in tackles by MLBs this season.
Start your DBs against the Saints. They have allowed the most tackles to DBs of any NFL team this season.
Titan SS CHris Hope is facing a tough week. No SS facing the 49ers have managed over five total tackles, and that happened just once.
Denver ILBs could be up for a nice week. ILBs facing the Steelers have averaged a staggering 12.75 tackles per week.
Bears MLB is starting his second game as the permanent (for this year) MLB. Last week he collected 5-1, pretty close to what Urlacher was doing. With another week under his belt, I expect Hillenmeyer to finish the year as a decent LB2.
Bengal SLB Rey Maulauga has been like most SLBs..inconsistent.
How about that Bradie James? Keith Brooking has been all he was advertised this year, while James has proven to be a very average Linebacker.
My heart was broken when the Lions decided to now platoon WLB Ernie Sims and DeAndre Levy. I was really looking forward to seeing Levy for the rest of the season. Julian Peterson came alive at jus the right time (8-6-3 in last two weeks) to be the odd man out. I’m actually shocked that larry Foote has managed to keep his job.
Houston SLB Brian Cushing has outscored MLB Demeco Ryans EVERY SINGLE game this season, other than one tie. Amazing and incredible.
Anybody Shocked Philip Wheeler is easily outscoring Gary Brackett in Indy? I am.
Akin Ayodele is leading the Dolphins LB corps with 22 solos, but he has zero big plays. How is a 3- 4 OLB that has just four sacks on the year leading the team in stats?
Who else picked up David Hawthorne (Seattle). Wow. If you saw the Dallas game you saw a driven guy that was all over the field. This kid is for real, and is here to stay.
Were you among the few IDP pundits that thought you would be cute and say Pat Willis would not be a top-five or even top-ten LB this year? Looking pretty stupid now.
Titan’s Keith Bulluck is looking like a LB1 lately. I thought he was done.
I went all-in with Carolina’s Richard Marshall this year. I lost.
Brodney Pool in Cleveland is losing his job (slowly) to Mike Adams. Who cares?
With all the injuries in Colts-Land, Jerraud Powers could be a fantasy pick going forward. He’s already third among COlt DBs in fantasy scoring.
Miami FS Gibril Wilson has been a total and complete bust. He can’t cover or tackle, and he’s losing his job to Chris Clemons. This week expect a platoon, and that’s too bad with a great matchup on tap with the Pats.
FS CC Brown in New York is getting the same bad reviews as Gibril Wilson. Aaron Rouse is posied to take over there, although against the Chargers I would sit either one of them.
Rookie SS Michael Mitchell in Oakland goes down as my biggest personal mis-read of the last decade. What a bum.
Steeler LB Lawrence Timmons is out this week, and Keyaron Fox will start. He has no sacks this season and other than weeks one and two, just two tackles. Don’t count on much.
Charger LB Brandon Siler may get a start in relief of Tim Dobbins and Kevin Burnett this week, although it’s not a particurally good matchup.
